Teen canoeist drowns near Bancroft, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 17-year-old boy from the Kawartha Lakes area died in Cross Lake north of Bancroft on Monday when his canoe capsized.

Durham regional police said the pilot had left at about 8:30 a.m. Friday and was expected back about an hour later. When he did not arrive, a search began.
