The kids are back to school and the parents are back to packing school lunches. Here in Ontario, schools are expected to be prepared for life-threatening allergies. Sabrina’s Law requires school boards to have an anaphylaxis policy – a measure to help students with serious allergies. At the same time, it doesn’t require the schools themselves to have EpiPens on hand. In fact, the only province that requires this tool in all public schools, regardless of student needs, is Alberta. Allergy Canada says that reality needs to change, and it needs to change now. Are we winning the war on peanut allergies? We check in with Dr. Alykhan Abdulla in Hour 2. He is a family doctor based in Manotick. Shifting gears closer to home, we only have 2 meetings remaining before Ottawa City Council dissolves for the election campaign. Today, councillors were calling on the Carney Liberals to delay the consultation period for the latest intra-provincial bridge until the election process is completed. Some municipal bike infrastructure was also approved, and the fate of Trump Avenue’s namesake will be up for a vote in 2 weeks. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent has the latest from Laurier Avenue West.
