After the Deluge: How will America's fall from grace affect Canada?

April 19, 2020

I have reflected before posting this article: Is the U.S. empire in jeopardy? It is freely available in Maclean's magazine, written by the former Canadian Ambassador to the World Trade Organization and associated UN agencies, Sergio Marchi.  Mr Marchi has been out of the political arena for a number of years now, and his views reflect his personal opinon, based on his experience. I believe it is worth reading.

For the past 40 years, or one entire generation, we have followed one path based solely on economic forces. It seems to me that the current pandemic with its subsequent enforced pause, gives us time to reflect in a prudent fashion, on where Canada can and should go forward as a sovereign nation. This article is in no way intended as a slur on my American friends, but rather as a call to Canadians to think about the way forward, rather than Just Go Back to Normal.

I would like to suggest that if you feel you can relate with these ideas, that we connect with Unpublished Ottawa, and see if we can form a group of concerned citizens, of all political persuasion.
