CAS: Extreme Steps

"No one should be surprised" - With the society's reputation HAS a truer thing ever been said? (might be the only true thing CUPE has ever said) but it is probably the first time anyone has gotten away with attempted fraud by called it just an extreme step.

We should be surprised when CUPE (THE FRONTLINE WORKERS THEMSELVES) defend the unethical actions of their employers claiming the society didn't know what they were doing was wrong. It's not just taking "extreme steps" it's called fraud and acting in bad faith and it's not in the best interest of any child - and decent honest Canadians shouldn't have been surprised the society was so willing to violate their mandate, they should have been horrified. Unfortunately for tens of thousands of parents, before and since, hoping to see their children again someday - those families who've had first hand experience when the children's aid society first resort is to commit fraud in the family courts at the at the expense of children, their families and the taxpayers - they weren't surprised.

Hmmm, lets think their story a little bit more. 

First the children's aid gets caught planning some pretty unethical and shady shit, then they claim they only did it because of an alleged budget shortfall and their "mandate" made them do it.

Sounds more likely (to me anyways) they were planning some pretty unethical and shady shit because first they WERE short an awful lot of cash they wasted "somehow" - then tried to hide that fact - then after they got caught and the memo was exposed that  - a budget shortfall was the cover story/excuse they came up with.

Why do I say the Wynne government covered it up?Because between 2011 and 2013 the 46 separate societies investigated a combined total of 42 000 families or about 14 000 investigations per year, in 2014 - after the Peel memo leak the societies increased their funding - investigated a combined total of over 82 000 families in a single year as reported by the Toronto Star before complaining once again how underfunded and overworked they were.

Gene Colman, a Toronto family lawyer who handles cases involving CAS, said his office has been puzzled by the substantial increase in people calling because of CAS intervention in their families.

“I thought, ‘What’s going on, why are we getting so many calls?’ I wonder if it’s related. I don’t know,” he said not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth definition. Don't question the value of a gift.
