Sign Wars in College Ward 8: Why can't we all just Get along?

October 13, 2014

Seeing hard work and donor money disappearing the night Rick Chiarelli's signs go up and Guys' disappear...

After the recent Ontario provincial election, we saw an unprecedented number of unregistered organization post their election meesages denouncing Hudak's Tories.

In the camapign I was working on, two successvie Friday evenings, an organized and targeted attack was taken on over 200 Randall Denley signs in the riding of Ottawa West-Nepean where Bob Chairelli was running against Randall.

Five months later,  in the 2014 Ottawa municipal election, we rewind the same tape and play it back to the same "election dirty tricks" that past behaviour has proven certainly now goes to future behaviour for Ricks' Campaign.

On September 27th, 2014  I posted over 300 signs in College Ward, some small lawn signs and other large transit message signs for transit riders,s and at major intersections.  Two weeks later, not  ONE problem, other school board candidates, also put up their signs with no problems

In the early hours of Saturday night October 11th, Rick Chiarelli signs started to be erected in the Ward.  Two weeks before the election at night (why you put election signs up at night for safety reasons alone I will never know). On the Sunday morning of October 12th at 11 am in the morning I did my customary Ward Drive only to find some of my larger transit signs had just "disappeared"  no simple vandalism this time, no pushing out of the stakes, no drunken type vandalism that is easy to recognize... my signs were just gone.

So I leave it to the reader,  how does a sign go untouched for 2.5 weeks and the night that the incumbent signs go up, mine disappear? I am not alleging any wrongdoing....I will leave it to the reader to decide.

Hopefully on October 27th, people willl see it is time for change after 27 years at the same job.
