STATEMENT from Martin Canning regarding downtown Ottawa shooting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oct. 22, 2014—Following a shooting on Parliament Hill and at the Canadian War Memorial, Martin Canning, candidate for city council in Somerset Ward, made the following statement:

“I would like to extend my sincere condolences to those affected by the shooting that occurred in downtown Ottawa this morning. This violent and cowardly act has shaken our community but we will remain strong and vigilant against this ongoing tragedy. Our campaign is shut down indefinitely and I would like to offer our campaign’s office as a resource to those who need it for anything from telephone and wireless internet to food and water. Until this crisis ends, our campaign will keep the public informed and help wherever and whenever is possible. Thank you to the men and women in uniform who have put their lives on the line to keep Ottawa safe today and into the future.”
