Matt Radford

I was born in Trenton Ontario in 1977 and grew up in rural Northumberland County.  I have travelled to Europe, lived in Toronto and have experienced both extreme poverty and wealth. I currently fit somewhere in the middle. 

I reside in Woodstock with my beautiful wife, Jennifer Radford (neé Boeder), who was born in Woodstock and grew up in Norwich. We have 2 children together, aged 3 and 4, and as we plant our roots firmly in Oxford County, I hope to be a part in building a better future for them.

I currently work at Vuteq Canada in Woodstock and I am an active employee, advancing through the company in leadership roles.  At this time, I have only been there for 3 months, but I have already been promoted to A/R (Absentee Relief) and have recently been hired on to  Assistant Sub Leader of our division.

I previously owned a roofing company, BumbleBee Roofing, that operated out of Woodstock, but had to close my doors due to a lack of committed labourers as well as inability to compete with companies that didn't adhere to local and provincial government regulations, including WSIB and Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.

Personally, I enjoy playing guitar, reading, the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, and spending quality time with my family.  I have recently been involved in brainstorming positive and sustainable solutions to issues such as balancing economy with environment, both to the benefit of the People of Ontario and our planet.

Last July, I made a presentation in front of the Legislative Assembly to get Big Money out of Politics.  I also organized a rally at Queen's Park to raise awareness for Recall Legislation, was active in the rally in support of Ontario doctors as well as the rally to fight for care for autistic children also at Queens' Park.

I discuss occasionally solutions to challenges faced with our society, including environment and economy in various Facebook groups.

I have also recently worked with the Ontario Libertarian party, and was signed on to be their candidate in the provincial election for Oxford County in 2018, but I have recently shifted my political views towards the Green Party, as I found the Ontario Libertarian Party inconsistent in their platform, and their inability to porovide costing for the application of their policies if elected.

I believe I can bring a different perspective, an out-of-the-box style of thinking that will engage others in dialogue and open up new possibilities in finding fair and balanced solutions to both economic and ecologic issues facing Ontario, today and tomorrow.  

One of my most treasured values is my ability to change my mind in light of new evidence; I always keep an open mind
