The City of Ottawa has received an application to redevelop the gas station at 1660 Merivale Road into a drive-thru fast food restaurant. The site application will not be voted on by members of City Council, as it already meets the zoning requirements. However, not everyone is thrilled with this idea, including the councillor for College Ward. Laine Johnson argues that the drive-thru will fuel more traffic, resulting in a lineup of idling vehicles. Furthermore, she is also concerned about noise pollution and pedestrian safety. Johnson joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
