This town suspended councillors without an investigation. That may be illegal, experts say

After a hot-mic situation this month, two councillors in Smiths Falls, Ont., were suspended by their colleagues without an integrity commissioner investigation, the appropriate process under the Municipal Act. While the town is defending council's decision, experts say they’ve never seen this happen before.

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney’s national security advisor said Russia’s information war against Canada is increasingly successful as more and more Canadians believe Ukraine began the war caused by Russia’s invasion in 2022.
