I wrote this comment in response to Ken Gray's blog post on the Western LRT route for Ottawa's new Light Rail Transit system.

Doing something right, even if it means upturning the road for construction temporarily, is better than making a 100 year mistake. It wouldn’t be the first time land was acquired to complete a major project. And, this is definitely a major capital project.

I’m not too worried about the helipad because it’s unlikely the Civic Hospital will still be on that location 20 years from now.

What I’ve called for in the past is a real business plan for LRT on Carling Ave. I don’t believe we can properly assess the pros and cons until we see hard numbers within the context of a real plan.

This project is too important not to properly consider all options. I don’t feel the City has applied enough energy into a Carling option because they are fixated on the parkway, which the NCC will never allow.
