Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Tues. January 27th, 2026

January 27, 2026

Raise your hand if you’ve ever faced this scenario. You just finished a solid hour of snow shovelling. You’re just about to put the shovel away when, all of a sudden, the city plow drives by your street and moves a mountain of snow right into the end of your driveway. Your brain is about to explode. But what if your municipality came up with a solution to fix this problem? Even if it meant an extra hit to your wallet, would you take it? We open the debate floor with Helen Noehammer, the Director of Works Operations and Maintenance for the City of Mississauga. Meantime, you typically don’t hear people raving about the quality of hospital food. Some might say it’s on the same blandish level as airplane food. However, the Ottawa Hospital is on a mission to change that perception, and they are consulting one of the city’s finest minds for an upgrade. Joining the program in Hour 1 is local restauranteur Stephen Beckta. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
