In 2016, former prime minister Justin Trudeau overhauled the way appointments are made to make them more open and transparent. However, recent appointments by Prime Minister Mark Carney's government raise the question of whether his government is still following the system Trudeau put in place.

OTTAWA — Matt Jeneroux, the Liberals newest MP who crossed the floor from the Conservatives, will join Prime Minister Mark Carney on his upcoming trip to India, Australia and Japan. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt will also be travelling for parts of the delegation’s trip to India, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
