Plans for Canada’s first high-speed rail network are in motion, but what are the best locations to house this operation in Canada’s Capital? The first segment would connect Ottawa and Montreal, with construction slated to begin in 2029. Led by Alto, this project is being labeled as one of Canada's most significant infrastructure investments in decades, so they have to get this right. Does the old Union Station make the most sense? The town of Tumbler Ridge, B.C., is in mourning after eight people were killed in a mass shooting at a school and nearby residence.

RCMP on Wednesday identified the perpetrator of the mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., as 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, a transgender female. Dwayne McDonald, deputy commissioner of the RCMP in British Columbia, said that Van Rootselaar was born a biological male and began to transition to a female about six years ago.
McDonald added that Van Rootselaar “identified as female both socially and publicly.”
