History shows police corruption is challenging for Canada

Corruption allegations announced this week against seven Toronto police officers and a retired officer left their chief sombre and pledging to restore public trust, but they didn’t surprise Jim Lowry.
Ontario is examining legislation that would allow special constables to arrest and ticket drug users. Today, Ottawa City Council has voted 17-7 to endorse that legislation. It would also expand present-day enforcement powers to OC Transpo special constables, who would be able to arrest and fine people using drugs on public transit. The motion was moved by Rideau-Vanier councillor Stéphanie Plante. She joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
