Never once in my 32 years as a public servant was I ever asked what political party I supported. It was the norm to be non-partisan. American colleagues with whom I worked on international initiatives would be terminated when a new political party came into office, as their tribe could not be trusted. We had to start at the beginning with a new team. It was as efficient as changing the third runner in the relay in the middle of the race. Read More
