Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Mon. February 9th, 2026

Air Canada has announced that it will be suspending all flights to Cuba until further notice, a decision that was fueled by an ongoing shortage of aviation fuel on the island. That being said, the airline will be operating empty flights to return roughly 3,000 passengers. Joining the show in Hour 2 is Eugenio Landeiro Reyes, a Cuban who is currently living in Ottawa. He is also a member of the Cuban Canadians Coalition. Meantime, a new program in Canada’s Capital is linking children with volunteer grandmothers. It’s called ‘Chosen Grandma’, and it’s aimed at children who don’t have a grandmother, or whose family is far away. Kristy Cameron chats with Dr. Peg Herbert, who founded the program. Plus, the Canadian Women’s Hockey team is flexing their muscles against Czechia, but they might have lost one of their biggest leaders in the process. CFRA’s Chris Holski has more on that.

Before sitting down in my consulting room, Matt A. stepped forward and shook my hand. He was an athletic and handsome forty-seven-year-old man. He had been married for twenty years and had three teenage...

Analysis The sexual assault trial of auto parts billionaire Frank Stronach started well enough for the prosecution. Opening its case this week before a judge alone, the Crown sketched a preview of seven women complainants who will tell similar stories with common elements that allegedly reinforce the credibility of each other, and reveal Stronach’s alleged pattern of pressuring women into his lakeview apartment in Toronto, then sexually assaulting them despite their tears and refusals. A second trial with more recent allegations is scheduled for later in York Region. This one deals...
