Ottawa Now - Canadian tourists in Mexico urged to seek shelter as violence runs rampant

Canadians who are vacationing and living in parts of Mexico have been urgently ordered to shelter in place. This warning goes double for anyone who is currently visiting Puerto Vallarta, a popular tourist destination in the country. It follows the demise of a major Mexican drug cartel leader, who was reportedly killed in a government operation just days ago. And now, a wave of violence has engulfed the area. Kristy Cameron checks in with Debbie Parrish-Lefort, a concerned Ottawa resident who finds herself waiting in limbo.
The white bear is hungry. She leads her two cubs closer to the electrified fence, thrusting her nose to catch a whiff of decaying food. The bear circles the perimeter in search of scraps swept by winter winds beyond the fence. For weeks, the mother bear has been teaching her cubs to forage among the refuse piled on the tundra.
