New York City has started to pay residents $30 per hour to shovel sidewalks and bus stops. The municipality says they’ve been doing this for decades, but the recent pay upgrade has brought a lot of attention to this initiative. Is this an idea that Canada's Capital should get behind? Joining us with his perspective in Hour 3 is Joshua Goodman. He is the Deputy Commissioner for Public Affairs and Customer Experience at the New York City Department of Sanitation. Then, we pick your brain on the CFRA textboard, as Kristy Cameron tackles today’s Question of the Day. Circling back to one of today’s top stories, five new areas in Canada’s Capital have been designated as ‘community hazard zones’ by the OSTA. One of these new areas is located in Lowertown, and is represented at City Hall by Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante. She is proud to see that this long-standing request in her ward is finally being addressed, but adds that the conversation should go beyond the simple steps.
