Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. March 4th, 2026

March 4, 2026

An Ottawa city councillor is venting her frustrations over a series of prolonged road closures and construction in her ward. For many years, businesses along Richmond Road have complained about Stage 2 of LRT construction, saying it drives customers away. During this time, the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Richmond Road served as a major inconvenience for those who lived there. In December, it finally re-opened. But now, as we approach an 8-month closure on Woodroffe Avenue between Richmond and Deschenes, there is barely any patience left. Bay Ward councillor Theresa Kavanagh joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Meantime, a new study is displaying a sharp rise in young men who have contacted Ontario’s Mental Help Line for gambling-related problems. After private online gambling received the green light from the Ford government to set up shop, this rate has skyrocketed by more than 300 percent. We dig deeper with Nerin Kaur, the Executive Director of ConnexOntario.

Where can you slaughter hundreds of people and get away with it? Only in Canada, where authorities bungled the chance to stop an obvious plot to bomb Air India Flight 182 and then failed to bring a single one of the brazen terrorists to justice. It was the most preventable horror in our history, and we seem eager to forget it ever happened — even as more violence brews from the extremists behind the worst Canadian terrorist attack ever.
