Last week, Ontario’s Minister of Education admitted that too many people don’t know how to download a digital report card. And that might have been the catalyst for an old-school comeback, as paper report cards will soon be revived from the dead. Paul Calandra recently collaborated with parents and teachers in London, assembling several ideas for a reform of what he considers a ‘fractured’ school system. It’s unclear when the report card changes will take into effect, but it’s unlikely to happen for this school year. Kristy Cameron chats with Colin Matthew, the Vice-President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation, on Ottawa Now.
Hospital emergency rooms are overflowing, resulting in patients being treated in storage rooms and hallways as they wait days for a bed. Doctors say it's happening against a backdrop of behind-the-scenes backlogs, access issues and an aging population that are all impacting the flow of patients through the health-care system.
