March 12, 2026

Are you worried about the future of Ottawa’s transit system? It seems like a drawn-out question, and we hate to keep asking it, but it’s once again worth asking. In the latest edition of LRT Drama on CFRA, an ice storm got the better of an overhead power line on LRT Line 1, shutting down service at Lees Station for Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday. Crews have been hard at work from dawn to dusk, trying to restore service. And while everyone is hopeful that service can be brought back to life by the weekend, nothing is guaranteed. Have you given up on the transit system that is supposed to make things better? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Plus, the freezing rain might have stopped falling, but a crowd of neighbouring regions in Quebec are still powerless after the lights went out during Wednesday’s storm. We get an update from Caroline Milliard, a Hydro Quebec spokesperson in the Outaouais Region.
