In the wake of a menacing ice storm, Ottawa’s LRT faced a daunting test of survival. Unfortunately, Line 1 blinked, as an overhead cable snapped just before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and forced the R1 bus fleet to take action. Sophie Vincent, who works at UOttawa, witnessed part of the incident from her office. Sofia Mandoli, a transit rider, was given permission by her bosses to head home early and outsmart Mother Nature. But unfortunately for her, this transit curveball spoiled that plan. Both join Kristy Cameron on Ottawa Now.

Beatrice Mikkola, 30 years old, was exhausted. She had just arrived home from the hospital, having survived a postpartum hemorrhage while giving birth to her first child. She was trying to care for a newborn. And she was passing blood clots from her vagina.
