Ottawa Now - Should taxes be scrapped on all Ontario foods?

March 26, 2026

The Manitoba government is planning to scrap the PST on all groceries, as announced earlier today by Premier Wab Kinew. Prepared foods – snacks, beverages, and single-serve items – are taxed. So that would be anything from bags of chips and chocolate bars, to pre-made salads and rotisserie chickens.
