Centre d’accueil Champlain receives official French Language Services designation

The City is proud to celebrate the recognition of Centre d’accueil Champlain with a formal designation as a French Language Services agency under Ontario’s French Language Services Act. MPP Stéphane Sarrazin, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Francophone Affairs and to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (Small Business), and Mayor Mark Sutcliffe joined residents, their families, staff, and community partners at the long-term care home to mark this important milestone.

Centre d’accueil Champlain plays a vital role in meeting the needs of Francophone residents and their families. The designation affirms the long-term care home’s long-standing commitment to providing high-quality care in French. 

For more than 50 years, Centre d’accueil Champlain has proudly served Ottawa’s Francophone community, ensuring seniors receive culturally appropriate care that supports dignity, comfort, and connection. 

The designation process began in February 2023, and required extensive preparation, documentation, and collaboration. This milestone recognizes the City’s ability to meet the needs of Francophone residents and supports the long-term delivery of accessible, culturally appropriate services.
