An Ottawa city councillor is calling for a private bus service in rural sections of Canada’s Capital. In his neck of the woods, David Brown says transit service is spotty, and he wants to examine transit options beyond OC Transpo. On Thursday, he put forward a motion that asks City Hall to look into private mass transit providers to supplement rural service. Kristy Cameron chats with the voice of Rideau-Jock Ward in Hour 1. Canada Post has announced that 13 communities across the country, encompassing 31 postcodes, will no longer receive door-to-door delivery and instead transition to community mailboxes, starting later this year.
The first batch of addresses being converted to community mailboxes is mostly concentrated in Vancouver and elsewhere in B.C., but several areas in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Etobicoke and Moncton and Riverview will also be affected, along with three postcodes in Quebec.
