Ottawa's Michael O'Connor chasing Olympic dream in flag football

After going unsigned as a CFL free agent in 2023, quarterback Michael O'Connor figured he was done with football. Three years later, the Ottawa native is chasing the Olympic dream as part of the Canadian men's flag football team on the cusp of qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Giordano Vaccaro had a message for Ottawa Redblacks head coach Ryan Dinwiddie: "I can promise, you got a mauler." The offensive lineman from Winnipeg was selected as the first overall pick in the 2026 CFL draft Tuesday evening.
