Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. April 10th, 2026

April 10, 2026

A feasibility study is examining the possibility of bringing a bike-sharing system back to Canada’s Capital. It suggests that a public system could work in the National Capital Region, but City Staff is warning residents and councillors that it could cost up to $10 million to launch. Capital Ward councillor Shawn Menard joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 1. Later in today’s program, we also pick the brain of Beacon Hill-Cyrville councillor Tim Tierney. Meantime, we have entered the final stages of the historic Artemis II Moon mission, as a quartet of NASA crew members make their way back to Planet Earth tonight. This final phase is called a ‘splashdown’. What does that part of the mission look like? And when it comes to the expedition as a whole, what did we learn from it? We dig deeper with Steve MacLean, a Retired Astronaut and former President of the Canadian Space Agency. Fun fact: He’s from Ottawa. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
