Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Mon. April 13th, 2026

April 13, 2026

In an effort to nudge Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the United States Military is vowing to block access to all Iranian ports until further notice. American President Donald Trump says the blockade began at 10 o’clock this morning, as he issued a warning to his Iranian counterparts on social media. If any Iranian ships sniff the U.S. blockade, Trump vows to ‘eliminate them immediately’. All of this comes after a weekend of negotiations between the two sides, which failed to deliver any sort of ceasefire agreement. And as we enter a brand-new week, we don’t know if or when those negotiations will resume. We deliver the bigger picture with David Fraser in Hour 2. He is a Military Analyst for CTV News and a Retired Major-General with the Canadian Armed Forces. Meantime, a pedestrian in Pembroke has been asked to chill out after allegedly yelling at a snowplow operator, and then chucking their coffee directly at the operator. Why? The snowplow accidentally splashed the pedestrian. In response, the City of Pembroke is preaching for a dose of civility. CFRA’s Chris Holski explains.
