Assembly of First Nations call for withdrawal of Red River Métis self-government bill

The Assembly of First Nations is calling for the withdrawal of a federal government bill that would recognize the right to self-government of the Red River Métis, in its second reading in the House of Commons.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to name the successor Tuesday to Mary Simon as Canada's 31st governor general since Confederation.

Ontario Provincial Police say they seized drugs with an estimated street value of $4.1 million during a major operation in Cornwall and Montreal last month. The amount of suspected fentanyl recovered equated to "approximately 200,000 potentially lethal street-level doses," according to police.
