Healing remains elusive almost a year after the Lapu Lapu festival attack in Vancouver on April 26 last year. There have been divisions in the Filipino community about whether this year's festival – billed as a day of togetherness – should have gone ahead, as well as disputes over a new Filipino community centre, fundraising, and the handling of donations.
