Ottawa Now - Ontario projected to lose more than one-third of International student population

Ontario is set to lose more than 33 percent of the International student population because of Canada’s student permit cap. It was introduced by the Trudeau Liberals in January of 2024. And according to a new report from Statistics Canada, it unsurprisingly led to a sharp decline in new International students, as well as a more moderate drop in overall enrollment. What does this all mean for Canadian universities? More importantly, how does it impact their reputation as educational leaders? Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Rob Kristofferson, the President of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations.
The open survey asks residents how often they visit downtown, what they like about the area and where they would like to see future investments made.
