Premier David Eby said the 'real and present threat' of an Alberta separatism referendum 'enabled by decisions made by the Albertan government' has partly led Ottawa to engage differently with the province. 'Bluntly, we cannot have bad behaviour decide who gets engaged with by the federal government,' Eby said.
