Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. May 27th, 2026

May 27, 2026

The Summer season can get pretty busy for families – and awfully quickly. There’s a family vacation coming up. Before that, maybe a few trips to Summer Camp. But for families that are divorced, and for parents who are dealing with shared custody, it can be even more complicated. In fact, it can be pretty disruptive for the kids, as it’s a change in their normal schedule. Sara Morrison, an Ottawa-based family lawyer with Nelligan Law, offers some legal insight into how parents can navigate some of these common problems. Shifting gears to City Hall, a few different issues have been emerging from City Council today. One that has risen to the top of the agenda is the potential fallout from the impending closure of Ottawa’s final two safe consumption sites. In a matter of weeks, they will be losing their funding from the Ford government. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent tells us what the municipality is concerned about, and what actions are being taken at the moment. Plus, the CHEO Foundation has launched an internal review and contacted Ottawa Police after a former employee allegedly ‘misdirected’ money raised through third-party fundraising events. CFRA’s Chris Holski has more on that.
