The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed two challenges to the Jordan framework on Friday, ruling that the time limits put on criminal trials before charges be thrown out of court are justified under Section 11(b) of the Charter.

Little is known about the suspect in a Montreal shooting that killed a civilian and left one police officer dead and another wounded.
