Help Ottawa become Canada’s Most Active Community this June

June 2, 2026

There’s no doubt, it’s been a cooler spring. But this June, regardless of the weather, Ottawans have a chance to heat things up by helping the city become Canada’s Most Active Community through the ParticipACTION Community Challenge.

The ParticipACTION Community Challenge is a national campaign running from June 1 to June 30, to crown Canada’s Most Active Community. The winning municipality will receive $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport programs.

Participation is open to both individuals and organizations, with each playing a key role in helping Ottawa climb the national leaderboard.

Individuals can contribute by pledging to get active through the ParticipACTION website. After signing up, participants will receive a welcome email with ideas and resources to stay active throughout the month. You can also track your activities through the free Optimity app, ParticipACTION’s digital app partner.

Organizations can register on the ParticipACTION Community Challenge portal at any time before June 30. Once registered, they can list their physical activity programs, initiatives or events taking place in June and track participant numbers.

Each time participation is logged, organizations are entered into a draw for one of fifteen $500 cash prizes. The more participants an organization tracks, the more it contributes to Ottawa’s overall total—and the better the city’s chances of winning the national title and the $100,000 grand prize.

There are many City of Ottawa activities to take part in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge throughout June, including:

Pledges tracked between June 1 and June 30 bring Ottawa closer to being named Canada’s Most Active Community. By participating, you’re helping build a stronger, healthier and more active city for June and beyond.

Let’s put the action in ParticipACTION, Ottawa.
