Ottawa directing CRTC to change course on online streaming act

Culture Minister Marc Miller says Ottawa is directing the CRTC to back down on its recent decision to triple streamers’ financial contributions to Canadian content, and will instead provide $600-million to the sector. The decision comes as the U.S. has identified the Online Streaming Act as a trade irritant.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to explain how the restoration of the prime minister's official residence will proceed, with one source saying a fundraising campaign will be part of the project. The historic property has been uninhabitable for years.
