Ottawa directing CRTC to change course on online streaming act

Culture Minister Marc Miller says Ottawa is directing the CRTC to back down on its recent decision to triple streamers’ financial contributions to Canadian content, and will instead provide $600-million to the sector. The decision comes as the U.S. has identified the Online Streaming Act as a trade irritant.
According to the Ottawa Paramedic Service's annual report for 2025, the service missed city council's response time target for the most severe emergencies. The service did hit its goals for less important calls.
