June 5, 2026

For months, local politicians have raised alarm bells about a controversial safe supply clinic in Chinatown. Originally called Northwood Recovery Clinic, the name was later changed to New Dawn Recovery. Somerset councillor Ariel Troster called the operation out for its practices, saying it had taken a toll on the neighbourhood. She later collaborated with Ontario MPP and former Ottawa councillor Catherine McKenney, and called on the College of Physicians and Surgeons to investigate the private addictions clinic.
