MTO Highway 417 work between Carling Avenue and Rochester Street

June 10, 2026
Work on a section of eastbound Highway 417 by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) has closed the rightmost lane between Carling Avenue and Rochester Street until late summer.

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) is working to replace a noise barrier along Highway 417 eastbound between Carling Avenue and Rochester Street until late summer.

During this period of MTO work, the following disruptions will be in place:

  • Single lane reduction (rightmost lane) on eastbound Highway 417, between Carling Avenue and Rochester Street.
  • On- and off-ramps around the work to be closed nightly, as needed. No two consecutive ramps will be closed at same time.
  • The westbound Lyon Street on-ramp is closed until July 31.

This is not a City of Ottawa project. This work is part of the MTO’s maintenance construction being done between Island Park Drive and Kent Street. For more information on this project, please visit the MTO’s Highway 417 Bridge Replacements and Highway Improvements page.

Motorists can expect congestion and delays, including on City roads around this work. The City of Ottawa will be monitoring the flow of traffic throughout the summer and will make adjustments to the transportation network where needed to help mitigate impacts. Please plan ahead and drive safely.
