Unpacking the complicated legacy of poet Pauline Johnson

Her collection Flint and Feather is one of the all-time best-selling volumes of Canadian poetry but Pauline Johnson's complexity as a woman ahead of her time, straddling two cultures is still debated. Scholars have referred to Johnson as both a controversial figure and an early literary activist.
The program, earlier called the Canada Greener Homes Grant program, was first launched by the federal government in 2021, but lapsed in 2024.
