Quebec police issued more than 11,000 fines for insults

Police in some of Quebec’s largest metropolitan regions have handed out more than 11,000 fines over the past six years to citizens for allegedly hurling insults at officers or other municipal officials, according to internal data obtained by The Canadian Press.
Nearly 10 months after the Supreme Court declined to hear the city’s appeal over a Kanata housing development, Ottawa city council will now ask the province to intervene.
