Don’t miss out on all these upcoming Ottawa 200 events
Ottawa turns 200 this year and there are so many opportunities to celebrate! We are confident there is something for you, regardless of your age, interests or neighbourhood.
The City and Ottawa Tourism have provided Ottawa 200 funding to community groups to host local events for Ottawa’s 200th anniversary. These are in addition to signature Ottawa 200 events coming up, like Ottawa Day at Bluesfest on July 19, the SoundScape Festival beginning in August and the Block Party at City Hall on September 26. Visit the Bytown Museum to explore the stories and values of an evolving city and its residents – from its First Peoples, through the early days as Bytown and on to present-day Ottawa.

Kinburn Community Association: Kinburn celebrates 200 years of Bytown Saturday, June 20, noon Kinburn Community Centre, 3045 Kinburn Side Road
Celebrate 200 years of history in true Kinburn style with a full day of community, history and summer fun. Check out the antiques show, exotic animals, live music and bouncy castles. Top it all off with fireworks!
Voices of the Land: Canada Day Celebration of Indigenous Culture Friday, June 26 Noon to 2 pm Options Housing, 380 Cumberland Street
Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous artists will lead interactive workshops and presentations. Don’t miss the opening drum circle, followed by a Sacred Fire with teachings on ceremony, healing and responsibility. Enjoy a traditional-food station and a medicine-bag workshop.
Canada Day – Manotick Village and Community Association Wednesday, July 1 Manotick Community Centre, 5572 Dr Leach Drive
Begin the day with Métis dancers and a make-and-take art workshop for children, followed by period games and historical stories from Watson's Mill. Enjoy an Arabic calligraphy demonstration, henna artist and African drum circle. Music, games and a drone show will round out the festivities.
African Canadian Association Multicultural Festival Saturday, July 4, 11 am to 8 pm Brewer Park, 100 Brewer Way
Enjoy music, dancing and food, along with dialogue, civic engagement and social inclusion. Mark Bytown’s 200th anniversary with special programming, including intergenerational storytelling, Ottawa-themed trivia and commemorative photo stations.
Music and Beyond – Celebrating Ottawa July 4 to 17 Multiple locations and times
The Music and Beyond festival presents a five-concert classical music series exploring different eras of Ottawa’s history though performance, French and English narration, archival imagery and new commissions.
Pinecrest Terrace Community House Multicultural Canada Day Tuesday, June 30, 3:30 to 5:30 pm Pinecrest Queensway Community Health Centre, 1365 Richmond Road
Neighbours will come together to enjoy a variety of cultural meals, children’s and youth activities and international music. Professional dancers will perform and teach workshops for families.
