Audit Committee discusses City’s bus service planning and scheduling practices

June 19, 2026

The City of Ottawa’s Audit Committee met today to receive and discuss reports including an audit examining how OC Transpo plans the routes and schedules for its bus service.

The audit by the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) makes 10 recommendations focused on the planning and scheduling of bus routes to deliver more reliable service.

OC Transpo’s leadership confirmed their agreement with each of the 10 recommendations and outlined to Audit Committee their plans to deliver the changes.

OC Transpo’s Customer-First Action Plan is underway and addresses the recommendations contained in the audit. The plan is a wide-ranging strategy to make service more reliable, put customers first, strengthen financial stability and build a sustainable workforce.

Committee also received a follow-up report by the OAG on the review of job evaluation processes, and two in-camera reports related to cybersecurity, one of which was a follow-up.

The City’s Finance and Corporate Services Department provided the committee with two annual reports: the 2025 consolidated financial statements and 2025 sinking fund financial statements.

The OAG’s audit reports, with complete findings and recommendations, are available on the OAG’s website
