City’s outdoor swimming pools, wading pools and beaches ready to open

June 19, 2026

Summer is here and the City is ready to help you and your family cool off and enjoy the season. City beaches, outdoor pools and wading pools are opening soon.

Beaches – opening June 20

Supervised swimming begins at the City’s beaches, Mooney’s Bay, Britannia, Westboro and Petrie Island, on Saturday, June 20.

  • Lifeguards are on duty daily from noon to 7 pm until August 30.
  • Beach-accessible wheelchairs and lifejackets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Help keep our beaches clean and enjoyable for everyone. Please dispose of waste in bins or take it home.

Parking fees apply at Mooney’s Bay and Petrie Island. You can also visit octranspo.com to plan your trip by transit.

Non-motorized watercraft can be launched outside the swimming area at each of the four beaches. See maps of the locations at our Docks and boat launches page.

Outdoor swimming pools

Most of the City’s outdoor pools are open, with the remainder opening on Saturday, June 20. Operating hours vary by location.

Some pools also offer learn-to-swim programs for all ages. For more information, visit our Registration dates - Registration, terms and cancellations page.

Wading pools – Staggered openings next week

City-operated wading pools open on staggered dates in late June, beginning Monday, June 22. Select pools are currently open on weekends only.

Wading pool attendants supervise all locations during operating hours to support a safe and enjoyable experience.

Splash pads
