Ahead of Canada's group-stage finale at the World Cup, the team got a bit of encouragement from a Canadian sporting hero. Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash sent a message to the team on Tuesday before Canada's match against Switzerland on Wednesday, coach Jesse Marsch said.

The entire City of Kimberley has been placed under an evacuation alert as an out-of-control wildfire burns west of the East Kootenay community. The Regional District of East Kootenay has issued a separate evacuation alert for 66 properties stretching west from Kimberley because of two separate fires.
