Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. July 2nd, 2026

July 2, 2026

Cleanup efforts are underway across various portions of the National Capital Region, as a record-breaking 118 millimetres of rain drenched Ottawa on Canada Day. The unrelenting storm flooded roads and basements, and cancelled Canada Day celebrations across the city. And yes, even the highways were not immune to Mother Nature’s wrath. Bay Ward councillor Theresa Kavanagh joins guest host Chris Holski in Hour 1. Then, we catch up with CTV’s Natalie Van Rooy, who spoke to one of many homeowners that are now dealing with a flooded basement. But first, we go live to City Hall, as Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe has the latest on the city's flooding relief efforts.
