Diarrhea-causing parasite that led to an outbreak in U.S. has not spread to Canada, PHAC says

The Public Health Agency of Canada says the outbreak of a diarrhea-causing parasite that has infected more than 1,200 people in Michigan has not spread to Canada based on current information.

The outbreak began in March 2025 and lasted more than a year, with the final reported sicknesses happening in May and caused 200 lab-confirmed cases in six provinces.
