N.S. homeless shelter changes name after request by Viola Desmond’s family

The shelter, formerly known as Viola's Place, has been the subject of complaints related to disturbances, thefts and drug use. Desmond's brother-in-law says family members felt the shelter's name was a "slur on the Desmond name," adding that relatives were not consulted when the facility's name was chosen years ago.
