Temporary electronic and household hazardous waste collection sites opening for extreme weather event-related waste
As emergency response efforts continue from the extreme weather event on Wednesday, July 1, the City is providing additional options for affected residents to dispose of extreme weather event-related household hazardous waste and electronic waste (e-waste).
Temporary collection sites will be open for eligible extreme weather event-related household hazardous waste on the following dates:
- Saturday, July 11
- Monday, July 13
- Tuesday, July 14
- Wednesday, July 15
At the following locations:
Mary Pitt Centre100 Constellation Drive – Parking lot8 am to 4 pm
Lakeview Public School35 Corkstown Road – Parking lot8 am to 4 pm
Additional options for disposing of electronic and Household Hazardous wasteElectronic waste can be dropped off free of charge at Trail Road Facility Landfill or at an electronic waste drop off event. The next electronic drop off event is at:
Saturday, July 11 Tony Graham Recreation Complex 100 Charlie Rogers Place10 am to 4 pm
Household Hazardous Waste can be dropped off at the one of the City’s regular Household Hazardous Waste events. The next one is at:
Saturday, July 25 Kanata Research Park 373 Leggett Drive8 am to 4 pm
Examples of accepted electronic waste items include:
- Computers and laptops
- Monitors and televisions
- Printers and scanners
- Cell phones and chargers
- Cables, keyboards and other computer accessories
Examples of accepted household hazardous waste items include:
- Paint and paint-related products
- Solvents and household cleaners
- Automotive fluids and antifreeze
- Pesticides and fertilizers
- Batteries (Cover the terminals with clear packing tape, duct tape or electrical tape)
- Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes
Please do not mix different household hazardous waste products together.
Items not accepted:
- Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners or other appliances containing refrigerants
- Large household appliances such as stoves, washers and dryers
- Scrap metal
- Commercial or industrial waste
