Connecting residents affected by July 1 extreme weather event with supports and services
The City is hosting a series of drop-in community information sessions for residents impacted by the July 1 extreme weather event. These sessions will connect residents with City staff, community partners and support services in one location.
City staff and partner organizations, including the Canadian Red Cross, will be available at information booths to answer questions and provide information on topics, including:
- Waste disposal
- Health and safety when cleaning flooded homes
- Building codes and permits
- Reporting basement flooding or damaged infrastructure
- Support programs
- Insurance processing
The community information sessions will take place on the following dates:
- Sunday, July 12: Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive, 1 to 5 pm
- Monday, July 13: John G. Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, 4 to 8 pm
- Tuesday, July 14: Maki House, 19 Leeming Drive, 11 am to 3 pm
- Tuesday, July 14: Nepean Sportsplex, 1701 Woodroffe Avenue, 4 to 8 pm
These sessions were developed based on the questions, concerns and information needs shared by residents at the Community Information Hubs over the past week. As the City's response to the extreme weather event continues, resources are shifting from the hubs to these dedicated information sessions to connect residents with the organizations, services and information they need most.
Note: The Community Information Hubs will conclude following their final day of operation on Sunday, July 12.
